Is this Procrastination?

"Man will occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of the time he will pick himself up and continue on."

First of all, I need to tell you...'I'm not the expert.'

There are professionals out 'there' that you likely know and trust and have established relationships with. I generally encourage you to make the best use of that expertise.

There are a numerous legal considerations involved in properly protecting your Assets.

In reading this Resource you might think ...'my circumstances are simple and straight forward. I don't need to think about all this 'stuff ' '.

There may be some truth to that...yet...please let me
assure you...
....It is wisest to give yourself the benefit of the doubt !!
No Asset is so small that it should be taken for granted.

Bring Them On

Laws...Lawyers...they affect things we do and don't do from birth to death.

There is no escape. In a perfectly responsible world (the world as we would like to know it)
we rely upon the expertise of those laws and the legal Profession to help protect all those things which are held near and dear...in a word..."ASSETS".

There are several key topics to consider. Among these topics there are considerations which may not impact on every set of circumstances. Please don't cast them aside ' because they don't affect me '... Think about these possibilities:

  1. They just might...affect me directly and I am currently unaware
  2. They might affect someone else that is important to me...like a friend or relative
  3. They might affect me from an unexpected direction, employment for example

You've likely heard the old adage: "Where there is a Will there is a way." I'm not sure it has anything to do with Last Will and Testament but it can certainly could. There is a great deal to consider when making my will...yours too! As a matter of keeping things in order I mention it first. As a matter of being well prepared, to have it prepared, you might delve into the 'supporting' considerations first. If you don't, now, have a 'current will' then it may well be the priority.

Let's first consider Executors. In order to make the disposal of your Assets meets your needs and expectations most effectively you should consider a great many factors, some, of which, I'll pursue on my Executor's page.

Disability and incapacity can be around the very next corner or in the next room. IT may come with warning and it may not. Each of us needs to prepare for that possibility by preparing our
Power of Attorney designations now.

Trusts represent a potentially extensive area of consideration. Remember that each individual and each situation are as unique as imagination will permit, sometimes beyond.

There can be a cross over of designations or you may wish to have a separate advocate for the administration of your Medical Directive.

It is conceivable that you have dependent children or special needs family members or responsibilities. If that is the case you'll want to find out more about Guardianship.

Of course the other big consideration and one that requires thoughtful planning is the preparation for and writing of a Will.
